We caught up alternative rock band Last Remaining Light at Antisocial to check out the gear and equipment they use for their performances. The Mumbai-based quartet was playing a gig as part of a triple bill which featured heavy rock group Switcheroo (from Bangalore) and punk rock trio The Lightyears Explode.

Bass player and backing singer Adil Kurwa uses his new stock Sire V7 5-string Jazz bass along with a few floor effect units. The bass has an alder body, and a maple neck/fretboard. The bass is strung with Ernie Ball Super Slinky 40-125 bass strings. For floor effects, he uses a Tech 21 Sansamp VT Bass Deluxe preamp as his foundation tone, along with a Boss OC-3 Super Octave for sub-octave, a Marshall Regenerator for a phaser effect, and a Zoom MS-60B for a tuner and a bass synth effect for one song. A Boss FV-50L is at the end of the signal chain as a volume controller which goes into a house Hartke 4×10 bass combo which the bassist uses for onstage monitoring.

Guitar player and backing singer Anurag Shanker uses his custom decorated Parker P42 as his primary instrument, which has been modified with Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAF humbucker pickups. For floor effects, the guitarist uses a Korg Pitchblack tuner, into a Dunlop Crybaby wah, a Vervetronix mini compressor, into a Maxon OD808, a Suhr Riot, a Fulltone Supa-Trem, a Malekko Ekko 616 analog delay, and a TC Electronic Skysurfer reverb, into the house Fender Twin Reverb. The guitarist uses D’addario 10-46 strings and tries to stay in standard tuning as much as possible.

Drummer Karun Kannampilly was using the house Pearl Master’s kit along with a collection of various cymbals and a Gretsch 13″x6″ Mark Schulman signature snare drum. The drummer uses Meinl 16″ Extra Dry medium-thin hi-hats, a Zildjian A Custom 18″ Fast Crash, a Dream Energy raw-bell ride, and a Zildjian 17″ A Custom medium crash being used as an auxiliary crash. The drummer was using a pair of 5A Vic Firth sticks.

Guitar player and frontman Siddharth Basrur uses his stock Fender MIJ Aerodyne Telecaster. The instrument is stock apart from the electronics that have been swapped out for better components. For floor effects, the guitarist is using an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal Jr, a Dunlop Crybaby wah, into a TC Electronic Polytune, a Digitech Whammy, a Lovepedal Amp 50 mini preamp, Caroline Effects Wave Cannon distortion, a Jack Deville Dark Echo, a Zoom MS70CDR with the particle reverb effect, into a Roland Space Echo and an Electro-Harmonix Cathedral reverb into a house Marshall JCM900 plugged into a Marshall 4×12. A non-latching footswitch is used with the Cathedral for sustained notes on some songs. Basrur also uses D’addario 10-46 strings tuned standard and drop D for a few songs.
